The HKH-FRIEND Project consists of six research groups Database, Low Flow, Floods, Rainfall-Runoff, River Water Quality and Snow and Glaciers. Each research group is co-ordinated by the group coordinator. To conduct research in the region each research group has prepared project proposals which are compiled in the project document, viz., HKH-FRIEND Proposal for a Regional Research Programme, March 1999. Because of the lack of required fund only some of these research projects are being implemented. However, some of the research groups have been able to secure funding support. For example the Database and the Low Flow group have received significant support for their research and capacity building activities from Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH), UK for a period of three years (2000/01-2002/03). Some research is undertaken at individual and institutional level by members of the research groups.
